Lead Gaming Data Intelligence Analyst 

New Iron is leading the search for Gaming Data Analyst to join a highly successful Austin studio. 

You will join a team focused on analyzing millions of data, forming actionable data analysis to guide the direction of an entire app.  

You will be responsible to develop dashboards and visualization to provide insights on game features and business health. 


The ideal candidate is a strong analyst with a mobile game background:

  • building complex data sets
  • automating processes
  • managing A/B testing
  • utilizing ad hoc analysis to interpret business questions
  • leading teams as the technical resource

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Assist Product Director in monitoring the health of app and areas of opportunity
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis
  • Interpret problems into structured analyses to drive actionable insights
  • Finding answers to business questions via hands-on exploration of data sets using SQL, dashboards, statistical analysis, and data visualizations
  • Manage all A/B test to instrument in-game actions to gain valuable insights 
  • Measuring the success of product features after release and optimize their performance through rapid, data-driven iteration
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams responsible to identify and prioritize the most impactful business problems through data-driven intelligence 
  • Work closely with Engineering and Data Platform teams to track, measure, and evaluate the performance of new features and game content  
  • Present analysis conclusions in a clear, understandable, valuable way through compelling stories supported by data using visualization tools
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of the data quality of the application  

Should Have: 

  • 5+ yrs of experience analyzing large datasets in analytics
  • 2+ years of managing teams 
  • Desire to work in and knowledge of the video gaming industry, especially social or mobile games
  • Experience building clear, user-friendly data visualizations, tables, and dashboards 
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to extract data from large data sources with differing structures 
  • Solid understanding of Excel and Tableau
  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Understanding of data management and working in both structured and unstructured data 
  • Strong presentation skills and prior experience presenting to executives 
  • Ability to work with global cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate both business and quantitative concepts effectively across all organization levels 
  • Team player, goal-oriented, and intellectually curious self starter 
  • Must demonstrate a proven willingness to go the extra mile, own initiatives, and  maintain a positive attitude in a face-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge about analyzing user behavior on consumer mobile applications 
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or quantitative field    

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience working for a social or mobile game developer 
  • Deep understanding of mobile free to play games 
  • Ability to build complex data sets for analysis or tools
